No-these chairs aren't the cheapest but for anyone that does not want made in China for both construction & the smell, these are the chairs you want. I bought 4 and even I could put them together (8 bolts and that's it). They were well packaged even! The base of the chair was large enough for all sizes.
I got the chocolate brown fabric on brown base--simply gorgeous while still looking contemporary.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
